June, 2023: Ingeniería Líneas CODELCO SAADN Lines Engineering – Techint
ESINEL Ingenieros has been selected to carry out the line engineering for the SADDN desalination plant, a large-scale project that will mark a milestone in water supply in northern Chile.
Led by Techint Chile in collaboration with Aguas Horizonte, owned by Marubeni and Transelec, the project involves the construction of a modern desalination plant that will supply desalinated water to the operations of Chuquicamata, Radomiro Tomic, and Ministro Hales. This initiative, which represents nearly half of Codelco’s copper production, is essential to address the challenges posed by water scarcity in the region and move towards sustainable supply.
The desalination plant, which will operate through reverse osmosis, will initially have a capacity of 840 liters per second, with the potential to expand to 1,956 liters per second. Additionally, it will be located south of Tocopilla and its construction will include maritime works and a water pumping system that will span over 160 kilometers with pipelines.
In this context, ESINEL Ingenieros has been entrusted with the detailed engineering of the construction of high-voltage lines, a responsibility that highlights its technical expertise and commitment to excellence in every project.
